Foundation Trust standard achieved

Positive DVD - find out more about our application

Nottinghamshire Healthcare has achieved Foundation Trust standard. Due to the high secure services that are included in our portfolio we have not been able to be a Foundation Trust but this standard means we are working to the same high governance standards as other Foundation Trusts.

Becoming a Foundation Trust standard organisation means greater freedom from Government control, stronger local ownership, and more involvement for the communities which we serve.

Members of our Trust are key to its success. These members include local people, patients, carers and employees. They will have the opportunity to vote for Governors, who will have a strong say in how the Trust develops.

We now differ from our existing status in the following ways:

We have the new freedom to decide for ourselves how to meet our obligations.

We are accountable to local people, who can become members and Governors too.

However, it’s also important to remember that NHS Foundation Trusts  are firmly part of the NHS – and subject to the same NHS standards, performance ratings and systems of inspection.

We completed a 12 week public consultation during our appplication, which shaped the Members' Council. A copy of the Consultation Document and the Consultation Report, which details the results from this, can both be found below.
