Later this month, The Nottingham Panthers will be joining forces with Nottinghamshire Healthcare to continue to break down the stigma surrounding mental health and promote physical health and well being.
‘Check it Out – Healthy Body, Healthy Mind’, launches this Saturday and follows the success of last year’s ‘It’s OK to talk about it’ campaign. The campaign aims to encourage the public to ‘check out’ key health messages relating to physical and mental health care.
The Panthers will be talking about their own experiences and giving tips around staying healthy, which will appear in the match programmes from November through to March.
Free information and advice about mental and physical health care will be available to take away at games throughout the season (starting at the game against Hull Stingrays this Saturday) and professionals from the Trust will be on hand to talk about services available and provide help and support.
Professor Mike Cooke CBE, Chief Executive, Nottinghamshire Healthcare said:
“Last year’s campaign was a huge success and we are delighted to be working with the Panthers for the second year running. The team are committed to breaking down the stigma surrounding mental health and reminding their supporters that a healthy body is a healthy mind through their tips around staying fit and healthy.
So why not ‘Check it Out’! Come along to a match and have fun while learning a little more about looking after your own mental and physical health and considering the health of others around you.”
Gary Moran, General Manager, Nottingham Panthers, Ice Hockey Team explained why the team is on board:
“We play a team sport and everyone has to do their job and pull together to make it work. We have all sorts of players, fast players, tough players, skilful players, big players, little players and every one of them has a job. Everyone is important and everyone is different.
We got behind the anti-stigma campaign last year and we hope we've helped get the message across to the thousands of fans that watch our sport. We're very happy to back the campaign again, and we'll be urging even more people to check it out!”
