Chief Executive receives Honorary Professorship

The Chief Executive of Nottinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust, Mike Cooke, has been awarded a Special Professorship for Healthcare Innovation and Learning from Nottingham University Business School.

These appointments are a great honour and are given out to distinguished members of their profession to strengthen links between the University and experts in their field who can share their practical experience through lectures or seminars with students or by collaboration in research.

Mike said:  “I am delighted and honoured to have been awarded this Special Professorship.  The Trust has close working links with the University; it is incredibly important, through partnership working, to share best practice, research and innovations so that we can continue to evolve, develop services and further enhance patient experience.”

Mike joined Nottinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust in June 2007.

He is an instrumental leader with experience of working at many levels in the NHS in the acute, primary care and mental health sectors.

Mike is part of the National Institute for Health Research Advisory Board and is the Executive Board Chair for the East Midlands Collaboration for Leadership in Applied Health Research and Care. He is also the Lead Chief Executive for NHS East Midlands in Leadership Development and contributes to the NHS Leadership Council. Mike has been instrumental in developing a bespoke leadership programme at Nottinghamshire Healthcare.

Mike’s period as Special Professor will end in August 2012.
