Next week is National Apprenticeship Week and Nottinghamshire Healthcare continues to promote Apprenticeships and support the development of learners within the Trust.
The Trust currently employs over 30 Apprentices, across a number of sites and services. The Apprentices are working towards a range of frameworks including Business Administration, Health and Social Care and Hospitality.
Paul O’Neil, Associate Director of Learning and Development said:
“We want to ensure that young people are equipped with the necessary skills and knowledge to support their own career goals and give us a well trained future workforce.
Working for a large recognised employer enables the Apprentices to gain a variety of work experience and mix with many different health care professionals.”
Sam Wheatley started his Business Administration Apprenticeship with the Trust in October 2010, working with the Releasing Time to Care Team at Duncan Macmillan House. He completed his Apprenticeship early and managed to secure a job with the Trust as a result. Sam commented:
"While I was completing my Apprenticeship, I got the opportunity to undertake lots of training, such as personal development and awareness, public speaking and time management skills.
I finished my Apprenticeship last year and managed to secure a job in the Learning and Development Department within the Trust. I am really enjoying working for Nottinghamshire Healthcare and would recommend it to any young person looking for work.”
Last month, the Trust was shortlisted for Employer of the Year in the Nottinghamshire Training Network Awards, for the work that has been completed around Apprentices.
Sue Stronach, one of the Trust Apprenticeship Leads commented, “It is a real privilege to receive an award and recognition for all the hard work we have put in to the Apprenticeship programme. We are always looking at ways of improving the experience for the young people and work actively to ensure they gain a variety of skills and experiences in the workplace.”
