Flying the flag for LGBT History Month

Nottinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust will be showing its support for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Trans (LGBT) History Month by flying a rainbow flag at its headquarters throughout February.

Mike Cooke, Trust Chief Executive will be hoisting the flag at Duncan Macmillan House, Porchester Road on Friday 30 January at 10.30am.

The Trust will be taking part in various events throughout the month including holding a dedicated conference on 6 February which will consist of displays and presentations and the official launch of the Trust’s ‘How to be LGBT Friendly’ guide.

Catherine Conchar, Head of Equality and Diversity, said:  “We are really proud to support LGBT History Month.  As the county’s mental health and learning disability service provider, we cover a large geographical area with a diverse population and employ thousands of staff across the Trust’s many sites.  We want to embrace, respect and celebrate the diversity of our service users and staff, and supporting LGBT History Month is one way to achieve this.”

LGBT History Month takes place every year in February across the UK. It celebrates the lives and achievements of the LGBT community and encourages people to recognise the positivity of diversity and cultural pluralism.
