Foundation for the Future in Mental Health and Learning Disability Services

Nottinghamshire Healthcare, the County’s mental health and learning disability service provider, is holding its Annual General Meeting on 25 September at which over 600 people will find out what the Trust has been up to during the last year and how it has delivered the difference on the pledges made at last year’s meeting.

The meeting, to be held at the East Midlands Conference Centre, will showcase the Trust’s exceptional performance over the last year and discuss what further improvements can be made during the coming months.

Staff and service users will demonstrate how they have worked together to improve services and worked against the stigma that is still associated with mental health and learning disability.  Particular focus will be given to an innovative approach to older people’s services, a successful social inclusion football project and services for deaf people with mental health needs.

Mike Cooke is Chief Executive of the Trust:

“I’m really glad that so many people have shown an interest in our services and what we are doing. We made a number of pledges last year and I want to stand up in public and account for what we have done. We are on an exciting journey towards Foundation Trust equivalence (FTe) and our public consultation has demonstrated that people want to work with us and influence the way we move forward. This event demonstrates our commitment to the people we care for and the communities we serve.

“An exhibition prior to the formal meeting is open from 11am and the Trust, partner organisations and the voluntary sector will be demonstrating what they do. We currently have over 6000 public members and are hoping to have 7,500 by the end of the year.”
