Millbrook Open Day

Millbrook Mental Health Unit, part of Nottinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust, will be hosting an open day on Thursday 4 March, 10.00am – 3.00pm, for service users, carers and staff to find out more about its refurbishment plans.

Attendees will have the opportunity to meet the project team, discuss plans, raise questions and share their views. Information about interior design options will be on display and people will be able to assist in selecting furniture items. There will also be art activities on offer, a chance to meet volunteers and learn more about becoming a member of the Trust.

Over £7.5m is being invested in the project to refurbish three of the unit’s wards. The existing Maun and Meden Adult Mental Health wards will be transformed into one single ward providing 26 beds with en-suite facilities. Kingsley Ward, which is for older people, will also be refurbished providing 15 beds with en-suite facilities. It is hoped that work will commence on site in Spring 2010 and will be completed by Winter 2011.

The plans follow previous work successfully completed in 2008, providing the new Lucy Wade Unit, a new Section 136 suite for people needing to be assessed in a place of safety, and the Mill Fields Centre, offering a new base for community services staff.

Sharon Eaton, Business Development Manager says: “The open day provides a great opportunity for people to come along and find out more about these important developments. The refurbishment will ensure that people receive their care in modern facilities with a warm and welcoming environment. We encourage people to come along, share their views and get involved.”

Refreshments will be available from 10am with a buffet lunch served from 11.30am. For more information please contact Sharon Eaton on 01623 784770.
