Nottinghamshire Healthcare, the county’s mental health and learning disability service provider, is holding its Annual General Meeting on 19 September at which over 400 people will find out what the Trust has been up to during the last year and how it has delivered the difference on the pledges made at last year’s meeting.
The meeting, to be held at the East Midlands Conference Centre, will showcase the Trust’s exceptional performance over the last year and discuss what further improvements can be made during the coming months.
Staff and service users will demonstrate how they have worked together to improve services and worked against the stigma that is still associated with mental health and learning disability. A number of clients with a learning disability will launch their own anti stigma campaign – in a powerful and moving presentation.
The Trust is also unique in its approach to clinical supervision and this will be showcased, a system that ensures clinical staff are well supported and are able to improve patient care.
Mike Cooke is Chief Executive of the Trust:
“I’m really glad that so many people have shown an interest in our services and what we are doing. We made a number of pledges last year and I want to stand up in public and account for what we have done. We are on an exciting journey and we want to take people along with us. This event demonstrates our commitment to the people we care for and the communities we serve.”
An exhibition prior to the formal meeting is open from 11am and the Trust, partner organisations and the voluntary sector will be demonstrating what they do. The meeting will also see the launch of the public consultation around the Trust’s wish to become a Foundation Trust Equivalent organisation (FTe). The Trust cannot become a Foundation Trust because it manages Rampton Hospital, a high secure psychiatric hospital, and the Ministers want to retain a clear line of sight to this service. However we want the freedoms and autonomy of Foundation Trust and we want our members to have a real influence in how our services develop. We currently have 3,500 public members and are hoping to have 6,000 by the end of the year.
