Trust’s child and adolescent mental health services rated as good

Nottinghamshire Healthcare, the county’s mental health and learning disability Trust, has received ratings of ‘good’ for the services it delivers, in a county-wide review of services for children and young people.

The ‘Joint Area Review’ is an annual performance assessment of children’s services provided by a range of partner organisations across Nottinghamshire. The review included an assessment of individual services and how the organisations work in partnership. Areas addressed were safeguarding; looked after children; learning difficulties and/or disabilities, service management and capacity to improve.

The overall scores for each area were rated as ‘good’, with the Trust’s Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) playing a key part in achieving these results. The assessment’s findings highlighted good access to CAMHS for looked after children and young people, as well as good attention being given to their emotional well-being and development. For children and young people with learning difficulties and/or disabilities, inclusion and social integration provision was noted as good, and access to CAMHS is given at the correct point and time of need.

The timeliness of substance misuse assessments and support for young people known to the youth offending service were also highlighted as being very good. The findings also positively commented on the overall access and provision of CAMHS, the ongoing work to increase capacity and improve good partnership working.

Simon Smith, Executive Director of Local Services at the Trust, said: “We are pleased with these results and have worked hard to ensure that the services we provide are of the highest standard. We have excellent working relationships with our partner organisations and we are committed to achieving the best outcomes for children and young people.”
