Rampton Hospital Achieves Excellence

Rampton Hospital, managed by Nottinghamshire Healthcare, has been audited by the Prison Service Audit and has received an excellent score of 93%.

This is despite the audit being even more stringent than in previous years. The Hospital is audited against the Tilt directives, which were introduced following a review into security at all three high secure hospitals in England.

The audit is part of a collaboration across the Hospitals and the Prison Service and looks at risk containment, risk reduction and monitors procedures such as staff and patient searches.

Each year an action plan is developed to address areas of improvement and this year the Hospital will be looking at a new radio system, which will be used across the Hospital site to improve staff communications and responses to incidents.

Lee Brammer is Head of Security at the Hospital:

“Our focus is on delivering a safe, therapeutic environment which facilitates the patients cared for to be treated effectively and promotes work towards recovery. Security is important, in order to protect the safety of the public and our patients and staff. Good security does not interfere with the clinical work that is so important, but rather enhances it to ensure that individual patients’ risk are reduced and care pathways supported. We support those within the Hospital who are doing such a worthwhile job – and it’s good to see that we are achieving so much.”
