Stonewall Equality Walk in Nottingham

On Saturday 15th May 2010, a team of walkers will be taking part in a 5k walk for Stonewall at Holme Pierrepont in Nottingham. Stonewall is a charitable organisation that campaigns for the rights of Lesbian, Gay and Bisexual (LGB) people in Britain and positively supports and values the diversity of all of our communities.

This date was chosen due to its close proximity to IDAHo Day (International Day Against Homophobia) which is commemorated on the 17th of May each year.

We are looking for a team of thirty people to take part in the walk to raise as much money as possible for Stonewall. This event is supported by The University of Nottingham LGBTQ* Staff Network, Nottingham City Council LGBT Staff Network and Nottinghamshire Healthcare (NHS) Trust LGBT Forum.

We would like to invite all media to attend or speak to us about the event.

Nottinghamshire Healthcare is particularly proud to be supporting this event as it has recently been named as one of the top 100 employers in Stonewall’s 2010 workplace equality index which features the best employers in Britain for lesbian, gay and bisexual people.

The mental health and learning disability service provider was ranked as the best performing employer in the healthcare sector, coming top of the 54 health organisations in the list and 19th in the overall index, scoring 171 points out of a possible 200.
