Nottinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust, the county’s mental health and learning disability service provider, held a special event on 26 February to launch an inspiring collection of creative work.
The ‘Truly Listening’ book is a collection of works shared at a story telling event hosted by the Trust during Nottingham Mental Health Awareness Weeks last October. The event provided an opportunity for people to share their experiences with others and express their thoughts and feelings in a range of ways from poetry to artwork.
The special launch event was held in The Involvement Centre at the Trust to thank contributors for their participation and support. Attendees were able to take copies of the book for friends and family and there was even an opportunity for people to perform their work.
Rowan Cox, a volunteer with The Involvement Centre at the Trust who organised the event, said: “The standard of work that was produced in the one afternoon was exceptional. Everyone who attended the story sharing event was able to contribute making this a truly worthwhile venture and we hope to be able to repeat the event again next year.”
Copies of the book will soon be available in libraries across Nottinghamshire. For more information please contact The Involvement Team on 0115 9934567.
