Five Executive Directors of Nottinghamshire Healthcare have been identified as some of the top 250 leaders in the NHS.
Mike Cooke, Chief Executive, Mike Harris, Executive Director Forensic Services, Ruth Hawkins, Executive Director Finance and Performance, Dr Peter Miller, Executive Director Clinical Governance and Medical Affairs and Rachel Munton, Executive Director of Nursing and Allied Health Professionals (currently seconded to NHS East Midlands) have all been invited onto the national NHS Top Leaders Programme.
The programme has been developed alongside four others (board development, inclusion, emerging leaders and clinical leaders) by the National Leadership Council. The Council works to ensure that world-class leadership talent and development exists at every level of the NHS.
The purpose of the Top Leaders Programme is to offer support and development to those leaders already in the most complex roles; those which can be defined as business critical in organisations whose size or complexity means their performance has such a significant impact that a national perspective is important.
The members of the programme will form a national ‘pool’ of talent, which will provide a resource to NHS organisations looking for senior executives. It is also hoped to place individuals or groups in some of the most challenging organisations in an effort to provide communities not well served by the NHS with the leaders they need.
The individuals from the Trust selected to join the programme have been identified as being exceptional at being able to motivate huge numbers of people, and build effective relationships and partnerships for success. It is essential that leaders in the NHS inspire others and truly make a difference to patient care.
Mike Cooke, Chief Executive said: “I am delighted that we have been invited to take part in this programme, for being recognised as top performers in our field and to be able to share and develop this expertise across the whole of the NHS.”
The programme will include assignments, placements, learning and networking opportunities as well as identifying suitable substantive posts that would help leaders develop the right experience and expertise.
