Nottinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust, one of the leading mental health and learning disability providers in the country, has successfully been awarded Level Two in an assessment by the NHS Litigation Authority (NHSLA).
The NHSLA rates NHS organisations on their level of risk and whether they have the appropriate policies and procedures in place to manage this risk. The Trust had already successfully achieved Level One but underwent the rigorous assessment to achieve Level Two.
The assessment was based on compliance with 5 areas, with the Trust scoring top marks in each area and receiving 50 out of 50 overall, making it one of only three organisations in the country to have achieved such a high score. The NHSLA assessors also commented on the positive attitude of the staff that they met throughout the assessment.
The Trust’s attainment of Level Two shows that not only does it have the appropriate policies and procedures in place to manage risk but that these are embedded in the organisation.
Dr Peter Miller, Medical Director at the Trust, says: “We are very pleased with this result. We have worked hard to ensure that we have robust policies and procedures in place to manage risk. It is thanks to the efforts of staff across the Trust that we have achieved this excellent result.
“Through achieving Level Two, assurance is given that we are providing safe and effective services for our service users, patients and clients. We are committed to improving patient safety and the patient experience and we will continue to build on this progress to ensure the highest standards of care.”
The results of the NHSLA’s assessment will contribute towards the Trust’s Annual Health Check rating by the Care Quality Commission next year.
