Achievements 2009/10

As a team we have contributed to Trust priorities such as the move towards Foundation Trust equivalence, the Anti Stigma Campaign and making recovery central to our services. Mental Health Awareness Weeks this year saw a huge range of successful involvement activities and events.

INVOLVEMENT IN DECISION MAKING

Trust AGM 2009

The AGM 2009 was a marvellous event attracting 586 delegates, with 63 stands, three showcases and a real sense of involvement and engagement. The winner of the interactive stall competition this year was the Substance Misuse Service Anti Stigma Campaign.

Trust Public Membership

We have continued the membership recruitment campaign to bring our public membership to more than 7500 people.

Service User and Carer Experience Survey

We have launched a simple, regular survey to gain service user and carer views on their experience of its services.

The survey contains five simple questions to find out how people rate the service, whether they were treated well and if they believe it has made a difference to their lives.  There is also an opportunity for people to comment on what they would most like to be improved and the best thing about the service. Results from the survey will be provided to each team and directorate quarterly so that they can see people’s views on their service, what is rated highly and what needs to improve which will in turn help ensure that they continue to provide a quality service. Survey analysis will be carried out by the Institute of Mental Health.

INVOLVEMENT IN SUPPORT AND TRAINING

Employment Resourcing and Interview Forum

The Employment Resourcing and Interview Forum (ERIF) aims to engage service users and carers in our interview processes. The ERIF has built up a bank of service users and carers who are able to participate on interview panels and set up another group in the north of the county this year. It began work with Adult Mental Health Services and leadership posts in the organisation. It is now launching forums for Learning Disability and Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services.

Invest to Lead 2

Following the success of the 2008/09 Invest to lead programme, the Trust is running its second programme designed to develop leadership within the Trust. This year, 14 service users and carers from both involvement centres are participating in this exciting opportunity.

INVOLVEMENT IN COMMUNICATIONS

Newsletter/Communication Groups

Both involvement centres now produce an infomal internal newsletter. The newsletters are written by, and for, people who regularly get involved.

'Smile No Bullying' Group

We have supported the ‘Smile, No Bullying’ Campaign to tackle the bullying of people with Learning Disabilities.

Involvement DVD

We have produced a DVD to tackle stigma and promote involvement. Six service users and carers were the stars of a DVD that the Trust produced called “Positive about Involvement”. The DVD showcases how the service users and carers came into contact with our services, how they became involved and what involvement has done to improve their lives and our services.

Garden Project

The Roseforce project is going really well and has made a huge difference to the exterior of the  Rosewood building and improved the garden area, including growing fruit and vegetables!
