The Trust now has more than 7600 public members and a Members' Council of 41 Governor Members.
INVOLVEMENT IN DECISION MAKING
Adult Mental Health (Nottingham city) Development Forum
The involvement centre at Duncan Macmillan House hosts this forum on a monthly basis where service users carers and members can have input into the future development of services.
Involvement in Forensic Services
Some of our involvement volunteers have regular links to the Patients Council at Rampton hospital and the Forums at Wathwood and Arnold Lodge. We are also working with Community Forensic via the Involvement Centre on patient information about the use of seclusion and helping to develop a Patient Information Group.
INVOLVEMENT IN COMMUNICATIONS
Positive Writing Group
Members of the positive writing group, held monthly in the Involvement Centre, Nottingham have been pulling together their talents to produce a compendium of writing. This collection of stories, poems and artwork is being produced by service users and carers themselves and will be launched during mental health awareness weeks.
Every three months the positive magazine dedicates four pages for the 'involvement special' which highlights involvement news and updates on members' involvement.
Planning events for Mental Health Awareness Weeks
Involvement volunteers have been integral in the planning of events and activities at Duncan Macmillan House and Rosewood for Mental Health Awareness weeks in October. The Rosewood involvement centre is due to kick things off on 6 October, with the Involvement Centre at Duncan Macmillan House hosting events throughout the second week (commencing 11 October). Activities include a human library, barbeque, fundraising car wash and many more.
Service user and carer experience survey
We are still sending surveys to every service in the Trust and responses to the survey are increasing.
INVOLVEMENT IN SUPPORT AND TRAINING
Speaking at the Induction Programme for New Staff
More members are getting involved in the Trust induction programme by giving their own accounts of personal experience of mental health, learning disability or substance misuse and involvement with the Trust.
Staff Interviews
Service user and carer members of the Trust continue to be involved in the interview process for appointing new staff to the Trust. They are involved in both short listing and being part of the interview panels via the Employment Resourcing and Interview Forums held at Duncan Macmillan House and Rosewood.
Employment and Training Courses
We have had fantastic success with 2 more of our volunteers progressing to employment. We have trained 11 volunteers in Food Hygiene, 12 people have registered for a 2 day City Guilds Presentation skills course. Via the management group at each centre we are formalising our approach to Learning and Development and employment within the centres to be included in the Centre Operational Policy.
