Here are some frequently asked questions relating to the Employment Connections service:

1)                 How will my benefits be affected by working?

Before you start any paid work our Employment Specialists will support you to get welfare benefits advice (a ‘better off’ calculation) to enable you to make informed choices about working and provide you with all the relevant information. Everyone’s circumstances are different and this is taken into account.

2)                 Do I have to tell an employer about my mental health needs?

No, deciding whether to and how much to disclose is a personal choice. The pros and cons around disclosure are discussed with you by our Employment Specialists. It is your choice and our staff will only disclose information with your permission.

3)                 Can I do part-time work?

Yes, part-time work is supported. For some people, this may mean only a few hours of work each week.

4)                 Do you provide support after I have got a job?

Yes, the Employment Connections team will continue to support you for as long as you require it and find the support helpful.

5)                 How can family and friends help support me in finding a job?

The job search process is enhanced when the job seeker uses their network of family and friends to provide job leads and business contacts.
