Specialist physiotherapists vacancies in Mental Health Services for Older People

Are you able to work flexibly and holistically in a caring and person-centred environment?

Mental Health Services for Older People has been rated as outstanding for care by the Care Quality Commission. We encourage innovation and creativity in our approaches to working with patients who are people of any age with dementia and those people over the age of 65 years who are experiencing mental health problems. We work in close partnership with the health and social care community and the Trust Involvement team to ensure that all service users and carers are valued, listened to and receive high quality personalised care. We aim to provide a supportive and flexible service, within specialist inpatient units, day and community services, using a risk enablement and recovery philosophy that encourages independence and minimises admissions to hospital or long term care.  We are also involved in research into falls in people with dementia.

The role of the physiotherapist within the service is to provide specialist assessment and interventions around falls, mobility, pain management and other physical concerns in the context of the person’s mental health presentation and own goals. You will be motivated and resourceful in your approach to your patients and team. You must have experience working in an MDT with older people and it is essential to have a positive attitude towards working with older adults with mental health diagnoses.
