Who are we?
The service consists of 3 senior registered nurses (Macmillan Nurses) and is available Monday – Friday (excluding Bank Holidays) to provide a specialist service to Bassetlaw residents with a life limiting illness and their families/carers whether they live in their own home or in a care home.
Who do we work with?
The Macmillan Nurses work closely with GP’s, District Nurses, Site Specific Nurses, Palliative Care Consultant, GP’s with a Special Interest in Palliative Care, Cedar House Hospice, Adult Social Care, Citizens Advice Bureau and voluntary services to ensure the highest possible quality of individual care is provided.

• Information following diagnosis of a life limiting illness
• Complex symptom management
• Specialist psychological support
Who can make a referral?
The service operates an open referral system. This means anyone involved in the care of someone living with a life limiting illness can refer to the service as long as:
• The patient is registered with a Bassetlaw GP
• The patient is aged over 18
• The patient is aware of their diagnosis
• The patient agrees to referral to the service.
How do you contact the service?
Referrals and messages can be left with via Single Point of Access (SPA) at Retford Hospital 01777 274422.
The team does not provide an emergency service.
Urgent enquiries should be directed to the patients GP.
