Trent Ward

Low Secure Hospital Care

Trent Ward is a 10 bedded unit.  It offers assessment, treatment and exit routes for low secure patients back into the community.  Care and treatment is provided in a setting with state of the art levels of physical, relational and procedural security.

Patient Profile

  • Age 18-64
  • Male
  • Detained under Mental Health Act 1983 (including Home Office Restriction Orders with S41 and S49)
  • A history of substantial and imminent risk of harm to others
  • A link between the mental disorder and risk
  • The patient is deemed to have security needs which are above that of an open setting but below that of medium secure provision.  This would include patients of low to moderate risk but with a tendency to abscond and includes transfer of patients in medium secure units who have a willingness to engage in treatment
  • Patients’ therapeutic and rehabilitative needs must be able to be met and their risks manageable through the services and environment provided by the ward
