Mental Health Services
The Mental Health Service at Rampton Hospital is the largest clinical service area within the Forensic Services Directorate. The majority of patients have a clinical diagnosis of mental illness. However, many patients in the service also present with significant feature of personality disorder.
The service consists of 9 wards, which include:

· One Continuing Care and Treatment Ward
· One Treatment Ward
· One Intensive Care Unit
· One High Dependency Villa
· One dual function villa for patients with a physical disability
· One Pre-discharge Ward
· One Rehabilitation / Pre-discharge Villa
· National High Secure Deaf Service
The primary aim of the service is the provision of a comprehensive assessment and a therapy service for men who have mental health needs which meet our obligations under the Mental Health Act (1983), complies with the Mental Health Act Code of Practice and achieves the targets set out within the National Health Service Framework for Mental Health.

National High Secure Learning Disability Service
The National Learning Disability Service is the country’s sole provider of High Secure Forensic Services for patients with a Learning Disability, covering a catchment area of England and Wales. The Learning Disability Service has its own dedicated unit – the David Wilson Unit, with capacity for up to 54 beds and separate Day Care Facilities. Patients are also able to access the main facilities within the wider hospital.
The Service has 48 commissioned beds and aims to provide a continuing care and specialist health service to male offenders who have a learning disability and are identified as having complex healthcare needs, requiring care under conditions of high security. In addition to learning disability, individuals may have mental illness and/or personality disorders.
Our Aim
In a high secure hospital setting we will offer treatments, which are evidence based. These will reduce psychological distress by promoting growth, treating illness, teaching new skills and reducing risk. These will take place in an atmosphere where relationships are respectful, therapeutic and enduring.
