Lings Bar Hospital is a 72 bedded rehabilitation hospital situated in Gamston. The hospital is all on one level and has three 24 bedded wards.
The hospital cares for both men and women generally aged 60 and above, who require physical rehabilitation following an admission to an acute hospital. The Medical, Nursing and Therapy teams work in collaboration with the patients to plan care and set goals ultimately giving them the best chance to regain their mobility and independence in order to be safely discharged home from hospital.
The care approach is that of nurse managed patient caseloads with direct support from a doctor and consultant each week. The team is multidisciplinary and involves nursing, medical and therapy staff with support form Dietetic and Speech and Language Therapy teams.
The hospital works in partnership with both health and social care teams within primary and secondary care settings. The social care teams are housed within the hospital allowing for a seamless approach to patient care and integration of teams working together.
The service is also commissioned to provide up to 15 non weight bearing beds for patients with predominantly lower limb fractures. Palliative care patients are also cared for in the service for those in the last days of life.
