We aim to provide an Assessment and Treatment service for those people with a Learning Disability and associated challenging behaviour and mental health issues, providing specialist health interventions based on a person centred approach within a multidisciplinary/agency framework. To improve the health of people with learning disability we provide expert advice and quality interventions. Whenever possible these will be based on the most up-to-date clinical evidence, and developed in partnership with users and carers.
The clinical team provides a range of specialist health interventions that are based on individual needs identified by a robust assessment process, in partnership with service users, carers, advocates and other agencies. Each person is treated with respect, supporting his or her individuality and independence in a safe, therapeutic environment.
The multi disciplinary team consists of Administration, Healthcare Assistants, Music Therapist (Nottingham only), Occupational Therapist, Physiotherapist, Psychologist, Psychiatrist, Registered Nurses and a Speech and Language Therapist. A band 7 nurse Team Leader manages the unit and there is always a Registered Nurse on duty on a twenty four hour basis supported by other nurses and Healthcare Assistants.
The Directorate has two Assessment and Treatment units:
-A 12-bed short stay assessment and treatment in-patient service at Highbury Hospital in Nottingham
-A 7-bed unit at Lindsay Close in Mansfield
