The Nottingham City Asperger Service provides NHS services to adults with a diagnosis or suspected diagnosis of Asperger syndrome. Asperger’s is part of the ‘autism spectrum’ and is thought to affect around 1 in 10 adults and children.
The Nottingham City Asperger Service works with adults from the age of 18 years upwards, who do not have an additional learning disability (who can instead receive services from within the Learning Disability Service), and reside in the city locality, or have a city GP.
The Service is multidisciplinary and includes:
- Autism Spectrum Disorder Nurse Consultant (Service Lead)
- Asperger Liaison Nurse
- Consultant Psychiatrist
- Clinical Psychologist
- Speech and Language Therapist
- Occupational Therapist
- Support Worker
We provide specialist multidisciplinary diagnostic assessments for adults suspected of having Asperger syndrome; post diagnostic support; sign posting to other services; consultation to other services; and short term specialist interventions with individuals, their carers, and staff from their existing support services.
