The Alcohol & Drug Hospital Liaison Team offers the following:

  • For patients admitted to the wards of Nottingham University Hospitals (both University and City Hospitals), there is an assessment & referral service, available Monday – Friday, 08.00 – 17.00 hrs, Sat 07.30-15.30hrs. This service is for patients with both alcohol and/or drug misuse problems

  • For the Emergency Department (ED), there is an assessment and Brief Advice service, offering daily appointments in ED.

  • Out-patient hepatology clinics – the team works alongside hepatology (liver) consultants providing extended brief advice and liaison for patients who have liver disease

 

Both elements of the service target the full range of alcohol and drug misuse problems. The team is comprised of specialist nurses with extensive experience in substance misuse, who are able to access the full range of community-based services, e.g. Oxford Corner, Porchester Ward, John Storer Clinic, APAS, Last Orders etc

Who we see:

  • On the wards of both hospitals, those aged 18 & over

  • In the Emergency Department, for those aged 16-17 yrs, we provide a liaison service with organisations specialising in the specialist needs of that age group. For those 18 & above, a comprehensive assessment, brief advice & liaison service

 

Access to the service:

  • Through ED by making clinic appointments via ED reception staff

  • From any ward, by telephone referral to ext 66384
