Oxford Corner (Alcohol Team) offers individual treatment for problem drinkers from a central base in Nottingham City and other locality clinics.  The service targets those individuals who have moderate and severe alcohol dependence problems or other complex problems associated with excessive drinking. 

Group therapy, abstinence and controlled drinking programmes run alongside other therapy groups such as anxiety management and other complementary therapies.  Fast track assessments are offered for clients with advanced alcohol related physical and/or psychological problems, pregnant women and those experiencing child care or domestic abuse issues. 

Who they see

Any individual aged 18 and over with alcohol problems.

We offer the following interventions

·                     Comprehensive assessment

·                     Individual care plans

·                     1:1 keyworker sessions

·                     Therapeutic group programmes

·                     Psychosocial interventions e.g. motivational interviewing, cognitive behavioural therapy, relapse  prevention, goal setting

·                     Medical treatments including community alcohol detoxification and specialist prescribing

·                     Alcohol Reduction Group (GARGLE)

·                     Support Groups led by ex service users

·                     Psychiatric assessment

·                     Complementary therapies

·                     Assessment for community care funding

·                     Other specialist services e.g. Dual Diagnosis, Specialist Midwife, Asian Substance Misuse Worker, Alcohol and Drug Hospital Liaison Team

This service delivers treatment from a number of locality based clinics with home visits if required.

The service has an active Service User Panel comprised of current and ex-service users, clinicians and volunteers to support and advise on service delivery.
