Rapid Access Team, (RAT) is the community base which offers a comprehensive treatment service for clients who have drug related problems and access via the Criminal Justice System.  The clinic offers a wide range of treatment options providing individualised based care, based on their individual needs.  A range of prescribing options are offered, which include detoxification, stabilisation and harm minimisation based prescribing.  The services consists of nurses, social workers, doctors and substance misuse specialists all of whom hold accredited qualifications in the specialist field.

Who they see

For the Emergency Department (ED), there is an assessment and Brief Advice service, offering daily appointments in ED.

Services provided

·                     John Storer Clinic acts as the ‘parent’ clinic providing staff and clinical governance

·                     Clients are co-worked by the Criminal Justice Intervention Team (CJIT)

·                     The prolific and priority offenders treatment is managed within RAT

·                     Consultant led care

·                     Advice, information, counselling, prescribing

·                     Access to In-Patient and Community Detox

·                     Access to all Nottingham Drug Treatment Services

·                     Clinic based and homes visits

·                     Access to Naltrexone prior to assessment

·                     Individual key worker sessions

·                     Psychiatric and psychological treatment

·                     Blood borne virus screening and immunisation referrals

·                     Assessment for stimulant users

·                     Assessment for extended care funding

·                     Auricular Acupuncture referrals

·                     Clinical nurse specialist for pregnant women, families and domestic violence liaison

·                     Access to Dual Diagnosis services

·                     Access to Drug Liaison Midwife

·                     Service User Panel

·                     Welfare Rights advice
