Be a champion
Too many people are made to feel ashamed or isolated because they have a mental health problem. Time to Change is a national social movement to change how people think and act about mental health. They are looking for champions who can support this goal using their own lived experience of mental health problems.
Could you be a Time to Change champion?
Being a Time to Change champion means:
- living the values we would all like to see changed in our society
- sharing your lived experience
- passing on knowledge
- being honest about how you feel
- speaking up when stereotypes and misinformation is used
- growing the social movement, either online, one-to-one, or at events
Time to Change is organised by the charities Mind and Rethink Mental Illness.
If you are feeling that this is an opportunity that you would like to take up, there is more information about Time to Change on their website. On their website you can register as a champion, and also take part in their programme of e-learning modules where you will find advice and information about the role of a Time to Change champion.
At the Recovery College, we work with our students to increase their knowledge and understanding for the self-management of their health and wellbeing. It can take a lot of courage and understanding to speak up about your own lived experience, which we cover in our course ‘It’s Good To Talk.’ If you are interested in becoming a student at the college or signing up for any of our courses, please refer to our prospectus.
