Time to Talk day - 7 February
Time To Talk day is an annual event organised by the social movement Time to Change who are working to end mental health discrimination.
This year Time to Talk day takes place on 7 February and it is all about asking people to have a conversation about mental health. Whether it is just a chat over a cup of tea amongst friends, or hosting an event full of people challenging mental health stigma, the idea is that if more people feel comfortable talking about mental health, it will help to:
- break down stereotypes
- improve relationships
- aid recovery
- reduce the stigma around mental health
So, on Thursday 7 February, why not have a chat about mental health? It doesn’t have to be about your own personal experience, and if you are struggling to think of how to approach the conversation, Time To Change have a number of helpful conversation starters and posters which you can download from the Time to Change website.
There are Time To Talk events nationwide, but our local Time to Change Nottingham Hub are also running a number of events which you may be interested in:

The Time To Talk Day gives an annual focus to an ongoing mission and is a fantastic opportunity to have a chat with someone about mental health. However, the Time To Change Nottingham Hub continues to work hard in our area to increase social contact and reduce stigma about mental health throughout the year. If you would like to join them and become a Time To Change Champion in Nottingham please email ttc@selfhelp.org.uk.
The Nottingham Hub has been running for 18 months and they are always keen for new Champions to get involved in future events, conversations, media coverage and persuading more employers to make the employer pledge to change the attitudes to mental health in the workplace. They have ambitions to keep these important conversations going, and make their already impressive impact sustainable for the future.
