Research at Wathwood Hospital
The psychology team at Wathwood Hospital is currently running a research project that is investigating what the transfer process is like for people who have left Wathwood Hospital.
Evaluation of the Transition from Medium Security Services
What is this research about?
We are trying to understand what it is like to transfer from Wathwood Hospital to lower security services such as low secure hospitals, locked rehabilitation units or other community placements.
This will help us to consider how we can improve the transfer so that it is as smooth as possible. This will also help make sure that patients are moved on as quickly as possible and so that it does not disrupt the positive progress they have made at Wathwood. This knowledge is something that other services within the NHS may also benefit from too.
What is happening at the moment?
To do this project we will be getting in touch with people who left Wathwood Hospital between July 2014 and July 2019. We have been given permission to do this from government organisations that review whether research is safe, fair and legal (https://www.hra.nhs.uk).
They have said that we can look at files that show us:
• The names of the people who left Wathwood Hospital between July 2014 and July 2019
• The NHS numbers of these people
• The address where those people moved to after they left Wathwood Hospital
• The doctor that they were registered with when they left Wathwood Hospital (Responsible Clinician or General Practitioner)
This information will be used to find out where those people are now so that we can ask them if they would like to be involved in the research – we will not be using this information in our analysis.
We will be complying with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), Data Protection Act (2018) and Nottinghamshire NHS Foundation Trust Policies to make sure that we are using this data correctly and fairly.
