We are now smokefree, which means that smoking tobacco cigarettes on our wards and in our grounds is not be allowed. If you are coming to visit someone in one of our units you should not smoke or bring tobacco products onto site. If you are found to be smoking you will be politely asked to stop. If you are being admitted to our wards then please do not bring tobacco products onto site.
There are huge benefits for our staff, patients and visitors and the Trust Board remains strongly committed to smokefree.
The key elements to becoming smokefree are:
- Nicotine replacement therapy (NRT) is readily available on all wards for nursing staff so that they can administer it to patients within 15 minutes of admission, without the need to wait for prescriptions
- Staff are trained in adequate numbers to ensure that accurate assessments of nicotine dependence can take place and suitable recommendations of NRT are offered to support each individual
- We have increased meaningful activity and capacity to provide it
If you are looking for support to stop smoking please contact your local smoking service.
