Primary Healthcare

The Primary Healthcare service at Wathwood Hospital co-ordinates, supports and delivers physical healthcare to all patients across the hospital.

The services provided are in line with directions and guidance from the Department of Health and NICE, these include:

Full health reviews – these include asthma and diabetes

  • A visiting GP and practice nurse
  • Podiatry
  • Optician
  • Dental
  • Physiotherapy
  • Healthy lifestyles
  • Smoking cessation
  • Sexual health
  • Liaison with other wider specialist services

Patients are encouraged to work with the Primary Healthcare Team to learn about their physical health and wellbeing.

No smoking

Wathwood is a smoke free hospital, inside the building and on the outside grounds. Patients who are transferred to Wathwood Hospital who smoke will be given support to quit with one-to-one time and nicotine replacement therapy.
