Relaxation and Mindfulness

The information provided on these pages is intended for patients already under the care of the Community Mental Health Team / Intensive Home Treatment Team.

Breathe In Calm, Breathe Out Stress

The good news is that you can calm yourself down just by changing your breathing pattern. Learning how to breathe deeply and slowly right down into your belly is well worth the time and effort of practicing, because you should feel more grounded, peaceful and mentally focused as a result.

Exploring relaxation (Mind)

Exploring relaxation can help you look after yourself when you're feeling stressed or worried. Relaxation might not make what you are stressed or worried about go away. But it can give you a mental break from these feelings and help you refocus.

Mindfulness (NHS)

It can be easy to rush through life without stopping to notice much. Paying more attention to the present moment - to your own thoughts and feelings, and to the world around you - can improve your mental wellbeing.

Some people call this awareness "mindfulness". Mindfulness can help us enjoy life more and understand ourselves better. You can take steps to develop it in your own life.
