Bedtime Routines (The Sleep Charity)
A bedtime routine is important in getting a good night's sleep. A routine helps to support children's body clocks and aid relaxation. Here are some helpful tips.
Children's Sleep Charity
National charity supporting children with sleep issues. Provides support for families, accredited training for professionals. You can download free leaflets on sleep and find details of parent workshops although these will not necessarily be in the East Midlands.
Melatonin (The Sleep Charity)
Melatonin is a naturally occurring hormone that is produced by the brain and it plays an important role in supporting the body's circadian rhythm and promoting restful sleep.
Night Terrors and Nightmares (The Sleep Charity)
Night terrors and nightmares are often confused as the same thing but the two are completely different. Nightmares are more common than terrors but neither cause any psychological harm to your child.
Relaxation tips for bedtime (The Sleep Charity)
Feeling relaxed is important in the run up to bedtime for both parent and child. If your child is experiencing difficulties sleeping it can make you both feel anxious. Youngsters often pick up on stress levels around them so it is important to create a relaxing and calm environment as bedtime approaches.
