John Eastwood Hospice

Together with the John Eastwood Hospice Trust, we provide facilities at the John Eastwood Hospice in Mansfield, for patients living in Newark and Sherwood and Mansfield and Ashfield.

Palliative care supports people with advanced or progressive illnesses, such as cancer, neurological disease or long term conditions, to get the best quality of life for patients and their families.

Clinical Psychology Service

Our service provides specialist psychological care to adults with complex needs referred by the Specialist Palliative Care Team at John Eastwood Hospice. This can include inpatient, outpatient and day hospice patients.

Specialist Palliative Care Services

Palliative care aims to support people with advanced progressive disease to maximise quality of life for patients and families.

If symptoms or needs are complex then referral to the Specialist Palliative Care Service at John Eastwood Hospice may be appropriate. We provide care from diagnosis to final days of life.

This service is available to people over 18 years of age.

 

Accessing our services

Referrals can be made by GP, district nurse, clinical nurse specialists or health professionals within acute hospital trusts.

Service opening hours

24 hour advice line and visiting for inpatient unit, 7 days a week.

Day Hospice:
9am – 5pm, Monday to Friday.

Outreach Service:
9am – 5pm, 7 days a week.

Getting here

Visitor parking is available on site. Some spaces have been designated for use by blue badge holders only.

By bus

The service is accessible via bus with volunteer patient transport available for day hospice patients.

By train

The nearest train station is Mansfield  however, this is some distance from our site and will require a further bus journey or taxi. For help planning your journey please visit Traveline.

Newark and Sherwood, Mansfield and Ashfield Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCGs), with some support from other CCGs.

Community Macmillan Team

The Community Macmillan Team aim to provide holistic specialist end of life care for patients with a non-curable diagnosis. We work closely with your GP to offer specialist symptom control, advanced care planning and psychological support to patients and their families in a variety of community settings.

We provide educational courses for non-qualified and qualified health care professionals focusing on end of life care, advanced communication skills and physical examination skills.

Our team work closely with Nottinghamshire Hospice and Hayward House who provide day therapy and in-patient care to support our patients and families throughout their illness.

This service is available to people over 18 years of age, thought to be in their last year of life with a Nottinghamshire County GP.

 

Accessing our Services

Referrals can be made by GP, district nurse, clinical nurse specialist or health professional within the acute hospital trusts.

Service Opening Times

Our Community Macmillan Team work Monday – Friday between the hours of 8:00am – 5:00pm. If you require support out of hours, please contact your local District Nursing Team on the following number: 0115 9133000.
