Rapid Response Liaison Psychiatry

The Rapid Response Liaison Psychiatry service operates across Sherwood Forest Hospitals, Bassetlaw District General Hospital and the Nottingham University Hospital Sites.

We provide rapid assessment of patients within these hospitals who are referred due to concerns regarding their mental health. Our teams accept referrals for any patient over the age of 16 years from either the Emergency Department at each hospital or from the inpatient wards. Referrals may be for patients who have self-harmed, are suicidal, are in acute mental health crisis or who may have a possible dementia or delirium. We also provide a liaison service to clinicians in the hospitals requiring advice on the management of patients with possible mental health problems.

The service also incorporates a Substance Misuse Liaison team (SMLS) at the Nottingham University Hospital sites which takes referrals for patients with drug and/or alcohol problems.

Accessing our service

Referrals are accepted for patients of the acute hospitals as above including inpatients and those in the Emergency Department. We can only accept referrals from clinicians at the acute hospitals.

Referrals can be made by telephone or fax 24 hours per day.
