Help fund an outdoor polytunnel for Blossomwood Mental Health Unit

At Blossomwood Unit, we’re dedicated to supporting older adults with mental health needs, dementia, and those in early intervention programs. Providing meaningful outdoor activities is a core part of that support, but the unpredictable weather can make it difficult to offer year-round access to green spaces. That’s where your help comes in!

We’re looking to raise £5,000 to fund an extra-large polytunnel. This will allow us to continue delivering outdoor activities no matter the season. Whether it’s gardening or other therapeutic sessions, the polytunnel will provide a sheltered space where people can connect with nature and each other in a safe, supportive environment.

The polytunnel will help us run outdoor sessions throughout the year, rain or shine, getting people off the ward and into a natural, healing environment.

While gardening is a key part of what we do, the polytunnel will allow us to offer a wider range of activities for those who may not enjoy horticulture. From creative workshops to physical exercise, the sheltered space provides endless possibilities for engaging sessions.

Supporting Mental Health and Wellbeing: Spending time in green spaces has been shown to boost both physical and mental wellbeing. The polytunnel will create more opportunities for those in the community and those receiving early intervention support to benefit from this connection with nature.

With your support, we can reach our £5,000 target to cover the cost of building the base, constructing the polytunnel, and ensuring it’s safely installed. Every donation brings us one step closer.

Adam Jackson, Clinical Live Team Lead and Occupational Therapist said

“The polytunnel is a much-needed addition to Blossomwood. It will allow us to continue offering outdoor activities that have such a positive impact on mental health and wellbeing, even during the colder months. The space will also enable us to diversify our activities, ensuring that everyone can benefit from being in a calming green space.”

Whether you organise a bake sale, take part in a sponsored event, or make a personal donation, every bit of support makes a difference. Together, we can create a space where older adults and those living with dementia can thrive in nature, all year round.

Donate today and help us bring this project to life!
