Asthma Awareness
This session aims to ensure learners have an understanding of signs and symptoms of asthma, and understands how to manage asthma in a community setting.

Aims of the session
- To have an understanding of what asthma is.
 - To be able to recognise signs and symptoms of asthma.
 - To know how to manage asthma within your setting using the care plan.
 
Objectives of the session
- Discuss signs and symptoms of asthma.
 - Be able to describe how to give an inhaler correctly.
 - To have an understanding of why an asthma action plan is important.
 - To know when to get urgent medical help
 
Teaching and learning strategy
A variety of teaching and learning strategies will be facilitated during the theory session to include presentations, question and answer sessions and visual and practical demonstrations.
Target audience
Anyone caring for a child or young person in a community setting who has been diagnosed with asthma.
Delivery format and duration
- Face to face: 1 hour 45 minutes
 - MST: 1 hour 30 minutes
 - Moodle: available for annual update
 
Update requirement
Annual update is recommended.
