Infant workshops


Transition (infant to juniors)

Recommended to be 1 hour


This workshop supporting children with how to cope with changes. 

Questions that will be explored during the workshop include: 

  • What do you think are the most exciting things are about the change?
  • What do you think can make someone feel nervous about changes?
  • How does our body react to changes? 
  • What problems might someone come across when they are trying to make a fresh start?
  • What strategies we can learn in dealing with change? 

Resilience (Key stage 1)

Recommended to be 40 to 45 minutes


This workshop looks at big emotions and how to cope with them. The children are introduced to the bounce back bear who has ideas and strategies to manage difficult feelings and difficult days.

They will also be encouraged to ask for help when they need it. The workshop provides opportunities to discuss and reflect upon scenarios and utilises stories to engage the children.

Little Pom Pom has a big adventure

Recommended to be 40 to 45 minutes


This is a story-based activity suitable for reception and year 1 children. We follow the adventures of Pom Pom, he meets lots of different characters and realises that we all view situations differently. We explore feeling scared and how others can view the same situation with a different feeling. Pom Pom finds out that the world isn't as scary as he thought. This is supported with a pom pom character craft activity that children can do in class or take home. Children can colour in their own pom pom and cut and stick eyes and mouth to form their own pom pom friend. 

What Feeling?

Recommended to be 40 to 45 minutes


This workshop contains scenario based activities for reception aged children. It supports the EYFS early learning goal for Personal, Social and Emotional Development - Self-Regulation (Show an understanding of their own feelings and those of others and begin to regulate their behaviour accordingly). We explore the links between physical sensations and the emotions we experience.

Our activity will have the children acting how we might feel when emotions arise and naming emotions. We include a soothing strategy and promote sharing big difficulties with trusted adults. This can be delivered using PowerPoint presentation in class or through using posters allowing use of outside spaces or hall as an alternative to the classroom setting.

Baking bunny and the friendship pie

Recommended to be 40 to 45 minutes


This story-based workshop introduces the foundations of healthy friendships through the story of 'Baking Bunny and the Friendship Pie'. Children explore why friendships are important, what makes a good friend, and how to recognise and cope with big feelings that can arise when friendships become tricky.  

As part of this, children take part in an engaging friendship pie ingredients activity, where they identify the qualities that help build kind, caring and supportive friendships.

Calmer chameleon

Recommended to be 45-50 minutes


This is an interactive workshop looking at supporting children's knowledge around naming feelings and to develop a deeper understanding of how emotion affects out body and behaviour.

The Chameleon character introduces a range of scenarios that take the children on an adventure to the different zones of regulation. Children explore a range of practical strategies to regulate strong emotions in each zone to help them return to the 'Calm Zone'. 

 

Primary children's workshops


Body image

Recommended to be 1 hour


To understand and explore what body image means, and to explore what influences our body image (internal/external factors). To consider what is most important about bodies and explore the activities our body helps us to experience and do.  

Year 6 SATS workshop

Recommended to be 1 hour


The aim of the workshop is to explore what SATS are and what thoughts, feelings and emotions young people may have around SATS. To explore ways that young people can look after themselves before, during and after SATS. 

Transition (primary to secondary)

Recommended to be 1 hour


This workshop looks at supporting young people in the transition from primary to secondary school. The workshop encourages young people to identify what differences secondary school may have compared to primary school. We will look at exploring different thoughts and feelings young people may feel when moving to secondary school, and exploring tips around what they can do to make the transition easier.

Sleep primary

Recommended to be 1 hour


This workshop aims to explore how much sleep children need and the importance of sleep, and how we feel if we don't get enough sleep. We look at ideas for a healthy sleep routine, sleep hygiene tips and what to do if we struggle to get to sleep.  

Sleep hygiene video

Short video - 5 minutes


Introduction to sleep hygiene for Years 3 and 4s. This is a short video (5 minutes) designed to engage younger pupils and provide education around why sleep matters and some top tips for pupils to practice to help improve their sleep. 

Resilience (Key stage 2)

Recommended to be 1 hour


This workshop focusses on big emotions and how to deal with them. We will explore what resilience is, why it is important, how to strengthen it and how to deal with things going wrong. The children will learn strategies and techniques to manage their difficult feelings.  

Wellbeing workshop

Recommended to be 1 hour


During this workshop we will learn about what wellbeing is, we will also look at exploring what anxiety is and where we might feel this is our bodies. We will also look at learning coping strategies to help manage our own wellbeing. 

Worry

Recommended to be 1 hour


This one hour face to face workshop explores what worry looks like, the different types of worries we may experience and what we can do to help us manage worries.

Self-esteem (year 5 and 6)

Recommended to be 1 hour


This workshop is an introduction to what self esteem is, and uses a self esteem bucket analogy to help us to visualise self esteem. During the workshop we explore what may affect our self-esteem and how we can help maintain and improve our self-esteem. 

Understanding our feelings and emotions

Recommended to be 1 hour


This workshop supports young people in learning more about our brains and bodies and how they talk to each other when we are experiencing different emotions. It helps students to understand and identify their feelings, help to develop strategies, and learn skills for regulating their emotions.  

Friendship workshop (years 3 to 5)

Recommended to be 1 hour


This workshop focuses on key skills involved in building and maintaining positive friendships.

Through group discussion and scenario based activities, pupils explore why friendships matter, what qualities help someone to be a good friend, and how to handle changes or disagreements when they arise. The session also supports pupils to recognise strong feelings linked to friendship difficulties and introduces the STOPP strategy as a simple tool to help them pause, think, and make helpful choices during friendship challenges.

 

Parental workshops


Children’s emotional health and wellbeing webinar for parents

1 hour


This webinar explores what mental health is, and explores common aspects of mental health relating to children. During the webinar we explore some of the different mental health difficulties young people may experience, and some of the signs and symptoms to recognise  when young people may be struggling. We also explore tips for parents to support young peoples mental health, and what the MHST can offer to support young people in schools. This webinar is run once every term, and your link worker will share the dates and how parent can access this.  

Sleep parent video

A pre recorded video (26 minutes) has been designed for of primary and aged pupils.

The aim of the workshop is to explore the cycle of sleep and explore how much sleep is needed for young people.

The workshop also aims to identify what young people can do if they cannot sleep, help explore difficulties and give strategies to help the young person to have a healthier sleep routine. 

 

Primary assemblies offer


  •  In person assemblies are delivered by an MHST practitioner.
  • Video assemblies are available for the school to present, without the need for an MHST practitioner.
