Proposals for Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services and Perinatal Mental Health Services

Our Proposal

With the aim of creating a ‘hub' for children, young people and families, we are moving the Adolescent Unit (creating more beds) and Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) Outpatients along with the Mother & Baby Unit, to a vacant site on Mansfield Road currently known as The Cedars Rehab Unit, Foster Drive.

The proposal included the redevelopment of the following services in a purpose built site:

  • new inpatient and outpatient facilities for Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS)
  • a new Mother and Baby Unit and outpatient facilities for Perinatal Mental Health Services

More details about the proposals can be found in this summary document.

We spoke to many service users, families and carers about the best ways to change the services. You can find out more about this and the reasons why we proposed the changes.

The Decision

The proposal was approved by the Trust Board on 24 September 2015. More details about the decision can be found in this document:  Board decision September 2015.pdf

The full report can be viewed here:  Report of Public Consultation - September 2015.pdf

Next Stage

The next steps are to apply to the City Council for planning permission so the changes won't happen for some time, so there will be no immediate impact for you in the short term if you are currently using our services. We hope in the meantime you will let us know what you think of our proposal and help us shape these services for the future.
