Sexual Safety

Workforce sexual safety is about actively preventing and addressing sexual harassment and misconduct, whether from colleagues, patients, or other third parties.

Nottinghamshire Healthcare Trust signed NHSE's sexual safety charter in April 2024, and this means we are working towards a system-wide approach to tackling sexual misconduct in the workplace.

The NHS defines sexual misconduct as uninvited, unwelcome or non-consensual behaviour of a sexual nature. It is behaviour that can reasonably be interpreted and/or perceived by an individual as sexual and which offends, embarrasses, harms, humiliates, or intimidates an individual or a group. Sexual misconduct can involve elements of harassment, violence and abuse and can be physical, verbal, or visual and via different mediums, such as through an email or a phone message.

See Workforce sexual safety | Nottinghamshire Intranet (intranet link) for further details regarding workforce sexual safety, including links to internal and external support services.

If you have experienced or witness sexual harassment, support is available. There are a number of ways you can report this. You can speak to a Manager or someone you trust, you can report via a Ulysses incident report, you can speak to Freedom 2 speak up or you can complete a sexual misconduct reporting form by clicking Nottinghamshire Healthcare Trust - Sexual Misconduct Reporting Form  - Fill in form
