After the overwhelming success of last year’s event we’ve decided to do it again! Due to ongoing social distancing restrictions we’re planning another virtual Pride as an ICS family this summer. Following consultation with partners we have planned weekly activities from Mid-July to Mid-August that aim to educate, celebrate and captivate (your imagination, hearts and minds) … It matters not if you’re a member of the LGBT+ community as we’d love you to show your support for people who are as an ally.
‘It’s ok / It’s not ok’: Send in a short video clip (20 seconds max) with 1 sentence for our ‘it’s not ok’ video e.g. ‘It’s not okay to assume that just because I wear a wedding ring that I’m straight. But it’s okay to ask me about my partner’. ‘It’s not okay to assume that just because I present as male that I use the pronouns he / him / his, but it’s okay to ask me how I’d like to be addressed’. Video clips will be edited into a collage which will be revealed at the Extravaganza. Send clips to email@example.com by Friday 30 July 2021 via WeTransfer.
Create for Pride: Cakes, Canvas and Camera: This is your chance to get creative and show your talents and your pride. We’re having a competition for the best cake, best art piece and best photo/digital image. Judging will be based on creativity, aesthetics and of course meeting the theme, which of course is PRIDE!!! Those who submit an art piece or photo/digital image will have the option to include it in a silent auction to raise money for an LGBT+ related charity. Please state whether you would like to do so when you send in a photo of your ‘objet d’art’ to NottsICSPeopleAdmin@nottshc.nhs.uk via e-mail or WeTransfer by Monday 26 July 2021.
Virtual Pride Extravaganza: Are you a comedian, musician or drag performer who would be willing to feature for a few minutes either live or pre-recorded? Send responses to NottsICSPeopleAdmin@nottshc.nhs.uk as soon as possible.
Guidance on good filming etiquette and how to upload files via WeTransfer can be found here: WeTransfer, MS Stream and Filming - Video Guidance.
When the winter months follow the summer sunshine and the warm afterglow of Pride has ebbed we want you to continue being Proud and creative. LGBT+ Network members from across the ICS are working collaboratively to publish a first anthology celebrating LGBT+ identity. We are seeking short stories and poetry relating to all aspects of LGBT+ identities, including those which provide insight into why it’s so important. More information will follow at a later date but if this is something you’d be interested in contributing to please contact NottsICSPeopleAdmin@nottshc.nhs.uk
