IEV update - June 2026

Welcome to our June update from the Involvement, Experience and Volunteering (IEV) Team. Here's the latest news, opportunities, and ways to get involved across Nottinghamshire Healthcare.

Patient and Carer Race Equality Framework (PCREF)

In 2023, NHS England introduced the Patient and Carer Race Equality Framework (PCREF). This national programme aims to reduce racism and improve equity in care for people from racialised communities.

At Nottinghamshire Healthcare, we are working closely with external organisations to build stronger connections with communities across Nottingham and Nottinghamshire.

As this work develops, please visit our dedicated webpage for updates and opportunities to get involved: Patient Carer Race Equality Framework (PCREF) | Nottinghamshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust

Complaints Feedback - Thank You for Sharing Your Voices

Our Chief Nurse, Diane Hull, recently commissioned an external review of the Trust's Patient Advice and Liaison Service (PALS) and complaints process.

We would like to sincerely thank everyone who joined the engagement sessions. Your insights were invaluable and are helping shape where improvements and changes are needed.

Further involvement opportunities may become available; please keep an eye on our webpages.

Have Your Say on Mental Health Services

Healthwatch Nottinghamshire is currently running a survey to gather feedback from people who have used mental health services provided by Nottinghamshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust. You can take part by completing the survey or booking a one-to-one interview to share your experiences in more detail. Your voice matters and will help shape future services.

Strategy Refresh - What's Happening Now

A big thank you to everyone who shared their ideas and experiences throughout April and May to help shape the Trust's Strategy refresh. We've:

  • Held engagement sessions with staff, patients, carers, and families
  • Listened to what matters most to those who use and deliver our services
  • Used this feedback alongside insights from the Trust's Patient and Carer Feedback Survey

This has helped shape our future pledges and priorities. The refreshed Trust Strategy will launch on 7 July 2026.

You'll soon be able to:

  • Explore the new strategy
  • Get involved in monitoring progress
  • Help hold the Trust to account

Involvement Partner (IP) Videos and Audio - Get Involved!

We're looking to create a library of videos and audio recordings featuring our Involvement Partners and volunteers. These videos will be developed with the Trust Communications Team and securely stored by the IEV Team. The date for filming and recording will be Tuesday 22 September 2026.

Videos may be used for:

  • Staff induction programmes
  • Recruiting new Involvement Partners
  • Training and development
  • Supporting IP self-development

Interested in taking part? Contact us at: involvement@nottshc.nhs.uk

Self-Development for Involvement Partners

We are developing a self-development pathway for our Involvement Partners and would really value your input.

Please take a few minutes to complete the questionnaire: Involvement Partners Development Questionnaire

Feedback Collection in Community Health Services

Between 27 April and 1 May 2026, we worked closely with Community Health Service teams to deliver a Focused Feedback Week. Feedback was collected through:

  • iPads and online surveys
  • Text message surveys
  • Paper PACE forms
  • Volunteer engagement at:
    • Stapleford Care Centre
    • Park Horizon Day Centre
    • Orion Unit
    • Lings Bar Hospital

Results:

  • 928 pieces of feedback collected (in the 5-week period from 27 April to 31 May).
  • Compared to 253 in the 5 previous weeks-a 267% increase!

This feedback has been shared with Care Group Directors and Team Leaders to identify areas for improvement and celebrate excellent practice. Thank you to everyone involved!

Feedback Matters Dashboard

We collect patient and carer experience data through our surveys, which are publicly available on the Feedback Matters Dashboard, which has recently been upgraded for improved accessibility.

Volunteering Update

Our volunteers continue to make a real difference across Nottinghamshire Healthcare. Our latest approved reporting shows:
