NIHR Applied Research Collaborations (ARCs) support applied health and care research that responds to, and meets, the needs of local populations and local health and care systems.

The NIHR ARC East Midlands (EM) is one of 15 ARCs across England, part of a £135 million investment by the NIHR to improve the health and care of patients and the public.

MindTech is a national centre focussing on the development, adoption and evaluation of new technologies for mental healthcare and dementia.

We are proud to support the NIHR Nottingham Biomedical Research Centre's Mental Health and Technology Theme

The theme is led by Professor Chris Hollis and Dr Jen Martin, PhD, and brings together a unique interdisciplinary research ecosystem incorporating to drive technological transformation of mental healthcare.

Research Groups

Forensic Research Nottingham

The Forensic Research Nottingham (FRN) Group, led by Dr John Tully and Dr Daniel Whiting, Clinical Associate Professors in Forensic Psychiatry at the University of Nottingham, is a multi-disciplinary group of clinical and academic staff with a common interest in using research and evaluation to improve the care of patients in the forensic setting.

AMH, SSD, MHSOP Psychologists' Research Group

The Adult Mental Health (AMH), Specialist Services Directorate (SSD) and Mental Health Services for Older People (MHSOP) Psychologists' Research Group champions and enables psychologists working in these services and attached students to design and implement research projects and service evaluations. 

The group meets bi-monthly to host relevant speakers and to provide a platform for research support. The group seeks to identify and enable participation in relevant training as well as enable the research needs of educational programmes connected to AMH, SSD and MHSOP psychologists.
