Sherwood Oaks

Sherwood Oaks is a hospital in Mansfield, Nottinghamshire, for people aged 18 and over who are experiencing acute mental illness and need to stay in hospital.

The hospital has replaced the services for adults under 65 that were previously provided at Blossomwood (formerly Millbrook).

Sherwood Oaks provides inpatient care and has 70 bedrooms across four single-sex wards. Each patient has their own bedroom with an ensuite bathroom and access to shared areas for activities, dining and socialising.

The hospital also has a place of safety, known as a Section 136 suite, for people aged 18 and over who need urgent mental health support.

In 2026, work was completed to create a therapeutic sensory outdoor environment to support patients' recovery. This builds on earlier work by patients, staff and volunteers to develop the outdoor space, including a wildflower meadow, vegetable-growing areas, and places to sit and relax.

The wards are staffed by a skilled team of mental health nurses, doctors, psychologists and other healthcare professionals. They provide care and support 24 hours a day. Staff are trained to care for patients with a range of needs and levels of illness, helping to ensure each person receives the support that is right for them.
