Ensure mental health can be discussed openly and without fear of judgement. Read the WHO article on Knowledge is power: Tackling Stigma through social contact. This shows the benefits of opening up discussions as well as peer-led change.
Open the conversation
- Develop an internal communications approach or campaign to promote the importance of mental health in the organisation

Adopt standards on stress
Adopt the HSE Management Standards to reduce stress in your work place
Help manage wellness
Develop Wellness Action Plans to help ensure employees can stay healthy or manage any mental health concerns that they are experiencing
Wellness Action Plans
These are an easy, practical way of helping you to support the mental health of your team members of your own mental health. Everyone can complete a Wellness Action Plan. It means that you already have practical steps in place to ensure you are supported when you start to struggle. Mind has three guides and templates-one for people working in a workplace, one for people working remotely, and another for people working hybrid.
