Ashfield nursing team spreads Christmas joy in local community

Nottinghamshire Healthcare's Ashfield District Nursing team have been spreading festive cheer by collecting and delivering gifts to patients and members of the local community who need it most this Christmas.

In their own time, the team gathered clothes, toiletries and small gifts for a particularly vulnerable patient who will be spending the Christmas period in hospital. With very limited personal belongings and no family support, the patient was supported by the team to help make their stay more comfortable during the festive season.

Alongside this, staff collected a wide range of items including chocolates, biscuits, toiletries, socks, crossword books and other thoughtful gifts to create festive gift bags for vulnerable and often lonely patients living in the community. The team have been delivering the gift bags in recent weeks, bringing smiles and much-needed cheer to patients' Christmases.

Tracey Gibson, District Nurse, said:

"The team really wanted to do something to make a difference to our patients and the community this Christmas, so we've all worked together to create these gift bags. We've really enjoyed handing them out - the patients have been so grateful, and it's been lovely to see the smiles they bring."

The team also collected a number of selection boxes, which were donated to a local charity to help ensure children in the community receive a Christmas gift and experience the magic of Santa. The charity shared that they had been struggling with donations this year, making the contribution particularly meaningful.

Amy Eagle, Care Group Director of Community Health and Specialist Services at Nottinghamshire Healthcare, said:

"We're incredibly proud of the Ashfield District Nursing team for demonstrating such compassion and commitment to our patients and communities, especially alongside their busy workloads. Their dedication to making a difference is inspiring, and it's heart-warming to hear how much the gifts have been appreciated."
