Family Interventions Team Young Carer Success

We're really proud to share that our Family Interventions Team have been awarded the Young Carer Friendly Service Quality Mark by Nottinghamshire Carers Association.

The team are committed to ensuring Young Carers are identified, heard, and well supported. Young Carer awareness information is embedded within their 5-day Behavioural Family Therapy training and once staff are trained, they have access to the shared resource Behaviour Family Therapy . This has a dedicated folder containing up to date Young Carer information. The topic of Young Carers is also covered in their Staff Carer and Family Awareness workshops.

All three team members, Chloe, Claire and Andrea, are recognised as Young Carers Champions and have received their badges from Nottinghamshire Carers Association. This involved them attending a Young Carer Awareness Webinar facilitated by Nottinghamshire Carers Association (https://nottinghamshirecarers.co.uk/blog/nottinghamshire-young-carer-awareness-webinars-sept-nov-2025 ) These sessions are for health and social care teams and any professionals working with young people and families. The objectives are to learn who young carers are, discover the impact of a caring role on a young person, learn the steps you can take if you identify a young carer, and be aware of the support available for young carers. Discussion during the webinar helped the team consider ways in which their service could become more carer/young carer friendly. Nottinghamshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust staff often reach out to the team for advice, support, and information. They welcome this.

Through their direct clinical contacts, conversations with families are regularly taking place about Young Carers. They were recently able to support a mum with the referral process to the Young Carers Notts Service for her daughter.
