Highly commended for developing system to ensure the best possible patient care

Neil Forman, People Analyst at Nottinghamshire Healthcare has been highly commended in the Award for Learner of the Year category, sponsored by HSJ Jobs, in the HPMA: Excellence in People Awards 2025.

Neil completed his Level 4 Data Analysis Apprenticeship this year, applying his learning by creating the Trust's first interactive dashboards for people metrics.

Wherever possible we want to reduce the need for agency staff in our Trust and the dashboard provides information on where we are using agency colleagues. It includes details which allows users to look at their areas, and make informed decisions on how to reduce the need for agency staff.

Neil has proactively worked with teams across the Trust to bring data, currently found in multiple systems, together, to have one overarching dashboard. This has enabled our leaders and managers to make educated and proactive decisions, impacting the efficiency and effectiveness of our services, and ultimately improvements in patient outcomes.

Neil said:

"I was honoured just to be nominated by my colleagues but to then be shortlisted and highly commended by the judges was the cherry on the cake.

Thank you to all those who supported me not just during my apprenticeship but then empowered me to use what i had learnt and put it into practice."

Through this work he has also ensured the accuracy of the data, to a point that it has now become a daily relied upon source of information for managers across the Trust. He has broken down the barriers and confusion for managers by having information in one place, which is meaningful and easily understood by all.

Jen Guiver, Executive Director of People and Culture said: We're really proud that Neil has been highly commended for this award. He's extremely dedicated to ensuring clinical teams have the information they need to make the best decisions for our patients. His hard work, dedication, and the excellent outcomes of this project truly deserve recognition. Congratulations Neil.
