NHS Heroes Awards launched

On 5 July, the NHS will turn 70. To mark the milestone, the Daily Mirror and ITV have launched the NHS Heroes Awards.

People are invited to nominate NHS staff and volunteers across 11 exciting categories including emergency lifesaver, mental health champion, NHS lifetime achievement and unsung hero.

The lucky finalists will be invited to a glittering dinner which will be screened as a two-hour TV special. Attended by major stars, it will celebrate the people who make the NHS what it is.

A number of celebrities have shown their support for the awards by naming their own NHS heroes, including footballers Phil Neville and Robbie Savage, as well as singer Peter Andre.

Simon Stevens, Chief Executive, NHS England said: “It’s great that the Mirror and ITV have come together to pay tribute to NHS staff in this, our 70th anniversary year.

“There has never been a better time to recognise the extraordinary care they deliver every day, often in very challenging circumstances.”
